A successful combination: looking back at our Pipelinetage conference and user meetings 2014

Pipelinetage

9, 75, 29 – three numbers to mark GEOMAGIC’s Pipelinetage conference 2014. This was the 9th time we invited pipeline industry experts to meet and exchange ideas. About 75 guests came and discovered new developments in the energy supply sector, maintain business contacts of meet new colleagues from 29 companies.

After a short welcoming speech by Mr. Focke, Head of Marketing and Sales at GEOMAGIC, managing director Dr. Andreas Hartke presented new developments within our company. Besides introducing new staff and explaining our modified organizational structure, Dr. Hartke focused on GEOMAGIC’s strategy for mobile applications. When developing apps for utilities, it is important to interact with existing business software solutions. Only intelligent integration and a combination of the special strengths of different devices will open up avenues in the mobile world that are not only new, but also truly useful. For example, GPS data on current position could be combined with GeoNAM data during a pipeline inspection.

The Pipelinetage conference covered a wide range of current issues from the energy sector. Wider technical topics such as the transition towards renewable energy sources in Germany or the use of fracking, detailed presentations on individual pipeline surveillance techniques, and concrete IT solutions for managing real estate or responding to third party inquiries, all formed part of a balanced program mix. A legal dimension was added by talks on the new German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV) and on the legally compliant use of different map services.

As in 2010, we invited users of our products LaRA and GeoNAM for specific workshops before the start of the Pipelinetage conference. GEOMAGIC’s application experts introduced a large number of new and improved functionality to the users. Both products have developed significantly in the course of the last twelve months.

We are pleased that we got so much positive feedback on the latest product features, but it is also extremely important to us to hear new ideas from our customers and learn about new challenges,

says Golo Hoffmann, product manager for GeoNAM and LaRA.

During the breaks and in the evening, there was time to meet and get to know each other and discuss the input from the talks while enjoying the rich culinary offers and attractive atmosphere of Krickenbeck castle. Everybody’s animated conversations were only interrupted once – for drawing the six winners of a ticket to the Digital Energy International Software Summit 2015 in Frankfurt!

Thank you to all our guests –we are looking forward to meeting you again and to welcoming new participants in autumn 2015 for the next Pipelinetage conference.
